本日、東京2020大会組織委員会から国際オリンピック委員会（IOC）へ提案する2020年東京大会の追加競技として空手が決定致しました。公益社団法人全日本フルコンタクト空手道連盟は、この決定にご尽力された関係各位に敬意を表しますと同時にお慶びを申し上げる次第でございます。
本連盟は、空手競技におけるフルコンタクト組手の公式種目化を目指して、関係各所に対する公式要望やその報告を行うなど、その実現の可能性を追求してまいりました。こうした活動の過程では、日本を中心とする国際社会から103万人の支援署名をいただくという大変厚く光栄なお力添えもいただきました。
本日、大会組織委員会より提案された追加種目には、残念ながらフルコンタクト組手は採用されませんでした。この追加種目の最終決定は、2016年8月にリオ・デ・ジャネイロで行われる第129次IOC総会にて行われますが、本連盟が要望するノンコンタクトとフルコンタクトの二つの組手種目の実現、その可能性を見極める段階となりました。
本連盟は、世界で2000万人の愛好者を誇るフルコンタクト空手界の中心的存在として、空手母国日本で272団体が集結する団体です。今後はフルコンタクト空手界を国際的に統括する競技連盟の編成を推進し、フルコンタクト空手の単独競技化の可能性も視野に入れながら、フルコンタクト空手の世界的価値を一層高めて参る所存でございます。

Regarding the decision of the additional events for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games

Karate has been chosen today as one of the additional competitions to be proposed by the Tokyo 2020 Organizing Committee to the IOC (International Olympic Committee) for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. As the JFKO (Japan Fullcontact Karate Organization), we would like to express our respect, and at the same time, our congratulations to those who have done their best to achieve this result.
Our organization, with the objective of making Full Contact Kumite an official event within the Karate competition, had made official requests and reported such activities to related parties, pursuing various possibilities to realize our goal. In the process of such activities, it was an honor to receive the warm support of the international community, led by Japan, in the form of 1.03 million support signatures.
Full Contact Kumite was unfortunately not included as one of the additional events that were proposed today by the Organizing Committee. Although the final decision regarding this proposal will be made at the 129th IOC Session that will be held at Rio de Janeiro in August 2016, we believe we have reached the stage to determine and accept the current possibility of realizing the two Kumite events, Full Contact and Non Contact, which our organization had requested for.
Our organization, which unifies 272 groups in Japan, the mother country of Karate, plays the leading role in the Full Contact Karate world, with 20 million practitioners around the globe. We aim to promote the formation of the international federation (IF) to unify the competition internationally, and while considering the possibility of Full Contact Karate being included in the Olympic Games as an independent competition, we will do our best to further increase the international value of Full Contact Karate.
While expressing gratitude to all of our supporters, we request for further encouragement and guidance in our future cooperation.
